After the armory show in march VSA (the not for profit i was showing with) endded up with a huge pile of announcement cards for the show unused.
Over and over and over again for the last few months I have been told that the entire point of my being in graduate school is to experiment. To break away from all of the processes and materials that I am conformable with. I am not sure if I have been fulfilling that requirement to the best of my ability but I am going to try and show here in the next few posts the range of things i have been trying. All of the projects are in process or just trails for larger projects. I am not sure if any of these will turn some sort of corner and become finished or get left by the side.

So the above image is a digital photograph "collection" I suppose. They are all taken of meals I have cooked for here at home or to give to friends/fellow students. I am working out some things about reconstructing my female idenity. (Some readers will know my mother and know why I must decide what of feminine traditions I want to incorperate, she had none of them) :)

Laser cuttering

So at this new fangled school I go to there are many fancy new toys to play with. The first of those I decided to play with was the LaserCAMM. Steve did most of the work. But if you compare to the picture in my last post it looks so much better. I had one whole wall that was just bare plie wood and an unsealed dirty concrete floor. Dirty floors are not places that one puts fabric sculptures. So I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned the floor and we painted it with this special enamal floor paint. If you look at the door way you'll see what a huge diffreance it is from the flooring in the hallway. So no I can mess about in here with out worrying about ruined pieces.
